Communities & Families
We'll invest in communities and support arts, culture, and tourism.
A Manitoba NDP Government will:
-
Create healthy community spaces and build the essential infrastructure communities need to thrive:
- Hire firefighters to staff the Waverley firehall to ensure families in Southwest Winnipeg and the surrounding communities have timely emergency services.
- Work with the city of Winnipeg on key critical infrastructure projects to improve opportunities for recreation for families, including the South Winnipeg Recreation Campus in Pembina Trails and the East of the Red Recplex
- Support the Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain's new entrance project
- Build the new gym at Kelvin High School
-
Invest in arts, culture, and tourism:
- Create a new annual investment in the creative sector to support local artists and festivals, musicians and performing arts organizations with both capital funding and grants
- Modernize the Film and Video Production Tax Credit by giving a cash advance upfront to companies that come to Manitoba to make movies and create jobs instead of after they’ve incurred expenses
- Bring the Tourism file back to the cabinet table with a dedicated minister
-
Increase supports for Manitobans with disabilities:
- Increase wages for disability support workers so Manitobans with disabilities can get the best care from the people who know them best
- Ensure people with lived experiences design our disability support programs
- Improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities
- Ensure no one working full-time lives in poverty
