David Pankratz was elected as the NDP MLA for Waverley in 2023.
A proud New Democrat, David brings a frontline perspective to government shaped by his years as a City of Winnipeg firefighter and former paramedic. In that role, he saw firsthand the impact of healthcare cuts under the previous PC government—fewer staff, stretched resources, and growing pressure on those expected to carry it all.
He is proud to be part of a government that is rebuilding and strengthening Manitoba’s healthcare system—adding over 4,000 net new healthcare workers and beginning construction on a new emergency room at Victoria Hospital, where he once trained.
A husband and father of three, David knows the pressure families are under right now. Like many Manitobans, his family feels the impact of rising costs, from groceries to housing, and that reality shapes his focus in government. He is committed to making life more affordable, while building strong public services and a province where families can get ahead and stay ahead.
