Stefanson’s Health Care Capital Record – Nearly A Billion Dollars Lost

Treaty 1 and Dakota Territory, Homeland of the Red River Métis, Winnipeg MB In a serious display of incompetence and mismanagement, Heather Stefanson’s PCs have underspent the health capital budget by nearly a billion dollars since 2016.

Nearly a billion dollars has been underspent on our hospitals and clinics since 2016,” said Uzoma Asagwara, NDP candidate for Union Station. “No one believes Heather Stefanson on health care because the facts show she says one thing and does another. The PCs promised to spend nearly a billion more on new health care capital, but they couldn't get the job done.

Since the 2016/17 fiscal year, the PCs’ health capital budget has been underspent by a combined $698 million. Based on Brian Pallister’s and Heather Stefanson’s track record of failures, Heather Stefanson is on track to have left over one billion dollars in health capital spending on the table.

p: Projected totals based on average underspending from 2016 to 2022.

Heather Stefanson is making all kinds of promises leading up to this election, but her record shows that they shouldn’t be believed. Manitobans know that the PCs broke our health care system and that they can’t be trusted to fix it,” said Asagwara.
