Friday, September 22, 2023 | Treaty 1 and Dakota Territory, Homeland of the Red River Métis, Winnipeg MB – The Manitoba NDP revealed that, two years after Stefanson's PCs announced their signature health capital plan, over 90% of the allocated funds remain unspent.  

In August 2021, Stefanson’s PCs made a signature $812 million health capital announcement. Documents obtained by the Manitoba NDP through Freedom of Information requests show that, as of the end of June 2023, only $80.4 million has been spent.  

Manitobans don’t trust Heather Stefanson on health care and they don’t believe her fake promises. Stefanson’s failures include cutting 300 nurses in Winnipeg and closing Emergency Rooms in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. Today’s data is yet another example of her failure to follow through on the health care investments Manitobans need.

The Manitoba NDP is the only party that is committed to investing in our health care system and re-opening emergency rooms in Winnipeg.
