Southdale NDP

Renée Cable was first elected as the NDP MLA for Southdale in October of 2023. She has served as the Minister of Advanced Education and Training in Premier Kinew’s Cabinet since that time where she has focused on improving access to post-secondary education – including in the adult education space – to create better opportunities for all Manitobans.

Prior to becoming an MLA, Renée’s background was in management, HR, advocacy and public policy including working in various staff roles in the Manitoba legislature. She has also served on several child-care, community centre and non-profit boards. Renée holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and diplomas in human resource management and management, all from the University of Winnipeg. She maintains, however, that she learned some of her most valuable skills while working in hospitality and while being a parent.

Renée is a proud Métis mom of two who is passionate about building stronger, healthier, and better-connected communities. She grew up in Brandon and now lives in Windsor Park with her family.
