NDP Nominate Tracy Schmidt in Rossmere

Manitoba NDP Leader, Wab Kinew, joined community members in Rossmere to nominate Tracy Schmidt as the NDP candidate in the next election.

“The last few years have been tough for families and seniors in Rossmere. PC cuts have done serious damage to our hospitals and schools. Plus, it’s clear the Premier is more interested in helping out billionaires than working people,” said Schmidt. “My neighbors deserve a brighter future and I know I the NDP can offer real solutions to the challenges people here face. I’m ready to make life better in Manitoba alongside Wab Kinew and the NDP.”

Tracy is a life-long resident of the community, where she and her husband raise three children. Beginning her career as a postal worker, Tracy found a passion in fighting for fairness for workers and their families. She earned a law degree and worked as a labour and employment lawyer in Winnipeg. She currently works as a representative for a professional public service union. Tracy and the NDP know what families and seniors in Rossmere need—better access to health care and child care, quality education and a more affordable life.

“Like a lot of families in Rossmere, Tracy knows what it's like to put in a hard day's work. She’s fought for working people at every level—for fair wages, safe workplaces and quality services families depend on,” said NDP Leader Wab Kinew. “Tracy has the compassion needed to make change and the skills to get it done. I’m excited to have her on our team.”
