MLA Mark Wasyliw Nominated as NDP Candidate for Fort Garry

The Manitoba NDP nominated MLA Mark Wasyliw to represent Fort Garry families in the next provincial election.

“These are tough times for families in Fort Garry. As the price of gas and groceries go up, we need a government that will take care of regular people and work to make their life more affordable,” said Wasyliw. “But the PCs are leaving the working families, seniors and students of Fort Garry behind. Premier Heather Stefanson is no different than Brian Pallister – she's giving tax breaks to wealthy corporations and helping her friends get ahead while she raises tuition and makes life more expensive for regular Manitobans. Only Wab Kinew and the NDP will fix health care and make life more affordable for families and students in Fort Garry.”

As the NDP critic for finance, Wasyliw stood up for small businesses during the pandemic and called on the government to offer better small business supports. He called out the PCs for handing out tax breaks to corporations while cutting health care and education and giving $500,000 to the MLA for Fort Whyte, Obby Khan’s company Good Local, instead of helping small business owners in Fort Garry.

“Mark Wasyliw is fighting to make your life more affordable,” said NDP Leader Wab Kinew. “He knows how PC cuts have hurt students and families, and made life in Manitoba more expensive. Our NDP team is working hard for families, seniors and students in Fort Garry and across the province. We’ll make sure every worker is paid a living wage and give you a break on your hydro bill.”
