Manitoba NDP Announces Gary Doer as Advisor on Canada/US Trade
September 12, 2023 | Treaty 1 and Dakota Territory, Homeland of the Red River Métis, Winnipeg, MB - Today, Manitoba NDP Leader Wab Kinew stood with former Premier Gary Doer to announce that Doer will work with the next Manitoba NDP government as an Advisor on Canada/US trade should the NDP win the election on October 3rd.
Doer, who is taking on this role as a volunteer, said he’s looking forward to the new role. “Wab Kinew is a smart and dedicated leader who is bringing people together,” he said. “I’m excited to work with him to bring a Team Manitoba approach to government.”
Gary Doer served as Canada’s Ambassador to the US from 2009 – 2016. He is the volunteer co-chair of the Woodrow Wilson Institute and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Canadian American Business Council.
“Gary has been an inspiration to me since the beginning of my political career,” said Kinew. “And I’m grateful he has accepted the offer to lend his great expertise to the important issue of Manitoba-US trade. If my team has the opportunity to serve as Manitoba’s next government, we’ll get back on track and we’ll draw on Gary’s experience and advice to do it. A Manitoba NDP government will grow our economy and increase our trading opportunities with our neighbours to the South.”
