Carla Compton nominated as NDP candidate for Tuxedo Byelection

May 20, 2024 | Treaty 1 and Dakota Territory, Homeland of the Red River Métis, Winnipeg -Today, NDP Leader Wab Kinew announced Carla Compton, a registered nurse, will be the NDP candidate in the Tuxedo byelection.

“Tuxedo deserves a voice at the table who will bring Manitobans together,” said Kinew. “Families can put their trust in Carla to work alongside our team to rebuild health care and make life more affordable.”

Carla Compton has been a registered nurse for 18 years. She currently works as a hemodialysis nurse at St. Boniface Hospital while also running a small consulting business. She is a passionate advocate for health care and is committed to working alongside Wab Kinew and the NDP team to rebuild health care after years of PC cuts.

“As a nurse, I’ve seen first-hand the damage the Stefanson PCs did to health care over the last seven years,” said Compton. “In this election, Tuxedo families can send me to Wab Kinew’s table to be their voice.”

The NDP has committed to hiring 1,000 new health care workers this year, lowering costs for people and growing the economy with good jobs and new opportunities for young people to build their careers in Manitoba.
