Winnipeg, MB – Manitoba NDP Leader Wab Kinew introduced a bill in the House today which would mark April as Sikh heritage month.

The bill was created in consultation with Sikh Heritage Manitoba, an advocacy organization that works to build awareness of the Sikh experience and highlight the achievements of Manitoba’s Sikh community. 

“We are extremely proud of  Manitoba’s Sikh community and it’s accomplishments,” said Kinew. “April holds sacred meaning within Sikh faith and so it is the ideal time to celebrate the visionary Sikh families who have chosen to call our province home.”
