Tom Lindsey

  • Deputy Caucus Chair of the Official Opposition
  • Critic for Labour and Northern Affairs

Tom has been the MLA for the Flin Flon Constituency since 2016 and has served as the NDP caucus chair as well as critic for Labour, Crown Services, and Growth, Enterprise and Trade. Tom has been a longtime labour activist who understands the priorities of everyday families and working people.

Tom spent his career working for the Hudbay Minerals. He first joined the labour movement with the Steelworkers Union Local 7106, first as a shop steward, then on the executive fulfilling many roles. In 1990's he became the Health and Safety Representative for the Local and was active provincially and nationally. Tom's experience in the labour movement made him a passionate advocate on workplace health and safety, mining regulations and industry's impact on the environment.

Tom has taken an aggressive stance against Brian Pallister's attack on frontline workers, fighting to keep services we rely on in the North owned by the public. This includes fighting against the privatization of LifeFlight, and Government Air Services water bombers that put families in our communities at risk.

Tom is proud to stand up for northern Manitobans on the things that matter most, including health care, good jobs and the environment. He has opposed Brian Pallister's cuts to the Northern Patient Transport Program, cuts to obstetric delivery services at Flin Flon Hospital as well as Conservative and Liberal inaction on the Churchill rail line.
