Nick Brown is a security guard and retail clerk in Brandon, Manitoba. He grew up between Pinawa, Manitoba and Deep River, Ontario, but moved to Brandon in 2011 to pursue a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Brandon University. While attending BU, Nick became involved with the Brandon University Students' Union (BUSU), holding the positions of Vice-President Internal and President for a combined four years, becoming the longest-serving executive member of the union.
While serving on BUSU, Nick advocated strongly on behalf of Brandon University students on issues ranging from post-secondary tuition costs to mandatory policies addressing sexual assault on campuses, free public transit, and more accessible low-income housing.
As a security guard, Nick has been on the front line of the meth epidemic, working every day with people struggling with addiction. Nick worked at the Samaritan House homeless shelter over the winter, where he provided safety and security for people and families without a permanent address. In his work Nick has been recognized and commended for going above and beyond while dealing with precarious situations.
Nick is a proud New Democrat. He is dedicated to fighting Pallister's cuts to health care and education. He will continue fighting for the rights and well-being of Brandonites and all Manitoba families.
