Kelly Legaspi is a Registered Nurse (RN) and a mother of four children who she is raising with their husband Red. She grew up in the Philippines, where she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing. Kelly and her husband Red are raising their four children.
Kelly is passionate about creating more opportunities for families like hers to experience the best of life. This is why Kelly and her husband started their own martial arts school, which gives children in her community more opportunities to succeed. Kelly herself has a 4th degree black belt in modern Sikaran and Arnis martial arts.
Kelly has always been an active volunteer in her community, with everything from Folklorama to the Philippine Heritage Council, the Asian Heritage Council, the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival and CancerCare Manitoba.
Kelly was one of the founding members and former vice-president of the Philippine Nurses Association of Manitoba, and the former vice-president of the Philippine Canadian Centre of Manitoba.
Kelly is also an educator and mentor to internationally educated nurses (IENs) and is a speaker for the Canadian Coalition for Immigrants and the Adult Education Centre’s English Program for New Immigrants.
Kelly is connected to the hopes of struggles of real people and everyday families. She never stops working for her community because she believes that creating more opportunities for families creates a stronger Manitoba for everyone.
