Justin Shannon grew up in Moosehorn, Manitoba before moving to Brandon in 2010 to attend Brandon University. At BU, he studied politics and built strong ties in Brandon and Westman. Justin has played a leadership role in various student groups, represented and advocated for the nearly 3,500 students at Brandon University as the President of the Brandon University Students’ Union, and is a regular participant and supporter of community-building activist events, such as Pride and Take Back the Night.
Justin knows that Brian Pallister’s tuition hikes and cuts to the ACCESS program are closing doors to rural and Westman students like him. He will fight to help make post-secondary education more affordable by freezing tuition growth to inflation, restoring the ACCESS bursary, and keeping student loans interest-free.
Justin believes in making Manitoba work for all of us – especially our public health care system. He knows that Manitoba’s NDP will stand up for Manitobans to fix the chaos Brian Pallister has created – starting by working in Brandon and Westman to take real action on the meth crisis. Justin is proud to stand with Wab Kinew and to stand up for everyday families in Spruce Woods.
